About

This blog brings together in one place pieces that first appeared elsewhere on the web.  I post on a number of sites – Dale & Co., Liberal Democrat Voice, the Policy Press blog, and Bristol Running Resource. I also post stuff here that is freshly minted. In fact, over time the balance has shifted more towards new stuff – cross-posts are now the minority of the material you’ll find here.

Outside the blogosphere I am Professor of Public Policy and Head of the School for Policy Studies at the University of Bristol. My research interests encompass UK housing policy; housing economics and housing markets; the economics of social and public policy; public management; and theorizing the policy process. To find out a bit more you can head to my university website : http://www.bristol.ac.uk/sps/aboutus/sps-staff-details/marsh or my personal site: alex-marsh.org

I am on the editorial boards of the academic journals Housing Studies and Policy & Politics. I am a trustee of Brunelcare and the Housing Studies Charitable Trust. I am a member of Equality Bristol a local group associated with, but independent of, The Equality Trust.

I’m also a black belt in karate and a long distance runner.

Material related to all these topics should feature on this blog somewhere.

I’d very much like to hear your thoughts on the material I post here. So I welcome your comments on the posts – even if you want to take me to task about something.

If you’ve got more general thoughts about the blog then please leave a comment below. Alternatively, you can email me. My user name is alex.marsh and the rest of the address is @bristol.ac.uk

Warning:

Everything and anything published on this blog is my personal opinion, hopefully informed by some professional and/or personal knowledge of what I’m talking about. It should not be taken as representative of the policy or views of any of the organisations with which I am associated.
